Tour tips - Tabaretta Hut in the Ortler Area
The Tabaretta Hut is located at 2,556 m on the Marltschneid, directly on the way to the Payer Hut under King Ortler.
There are several paths leading to us: for those preferring a leisurely approach, take the Langenstein chairlift and hike from the mountain station to the hut in about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can start directly in Sulden near the church – from there are two beautiful routes that lead up to the hut.
The Tabaretta Hut in Sulden is perfectly situated for day trips or as a stage destination during longer hut hikes in the Ortler area. It is ideal for everyone wanting to enjoy a day in the mountains, plan a family hike, or venture even higher.
Transitions to other Huts
From the Tabaretta Hut, you can reach the following huts:

-
Langenstein Mountain Station Restaurant (K2) (approx. 1.5 hours)
-
Hintergrathut via Langenstein (approx. 3 hours)
Additionally, you can cross over to Trafoi via the Tabaretta Pass:

Tabaretta Via Ferrata
Very demanding & airy
The Tabaretta Via Ferrata is one of the most challenging via ferratas in the Eastern Alps. Right behind the Tabaretta Hut, a narrow, sometimes exposed path to the entrance begins.
The via ferrata, rated E in difficulty, ascends 500 vertical meters through a spectacular rock face in about 3 hours. No footholds, no intermediate exits – just exposed passages and a magnificent panorama. Only passable in absolutely stable weather!
A strenuous effort with a view – and a true highlight for experienced via ferrata climbers.
